Looking towards the Piloting of the European Breast QA scheme
Late 2018 - early 2019, the European Commission will
publish an official invitation to stakeholders and interested organizations in
the field of public health in order to express interest and take part in a
pilot project to launch and test European
Breast QA scheme. The participants of this project are testing
laboratories (centers) performing diagnostic tests for breast cancer, as well
as accreditation bodies that assess laboratories and centers in this area from
35 countries.
To test the scheme, 15 interested organizations will
be selected. The purpose of this stage is to assess the need for further
adjustments to the scheme prior to its official launch within the legal framework
for accreditation.
For reference:
The European Union has developed and is in the process
of implementing the European Breast QA scheme. This scheme has been developed
within the framework of a special project (European Commission Initiative on
Breast Cancer - ECIBC), funded by the European Commission. This scheme takes
into account the achievements of the most progressive diagnostic schemes in
this field, as well as the patterns used in the European Union for diagnosing
breast cancer.
The ultimate goal of the project is to promote healthy
lifestyles and prevent breast cancer at the regional and local levels.
