Technical Accreditation Committees

In accordance with Law of the Republic of Belarus No. 437-З of October 24, 2016 On assessment for compliance with technical requirements and on accreditation of conformity assessment bodies technical accreditation committees are created by the accreditation body, they are accreditation performers and are a part of the structure of the National Accreditation System of the Republic of Belarus.

In accordance with the requirements set in GOST ISO/IEC 17011-2018 Conformity assessment. Requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies the accreditation body shall have formal rules for the appointment, terms of reference and operation of committees that are involved in the accreditation process, and shall identify the interested parties participating. (clause 5.8)

Globally this requirement is implemented through close interaction between the accreditation body and technical accreditation committees. Technical accreditation committees are created taking into account the type of conformity assessment activities (testing, calibration, certification, qualification testing, etc.), objects of conformity assessment of accredited conformity assessment bodies (food products, construction materials and products, vehicles, environmental objects and etc.) and bring together specialists in a specific field.

The composition of the technical accreditation committees is formed on the basis of the voluntary participation of interested parties. As a rule, technical accreditation committees include representatives of accredited conformity assessment bodies, who are technical assessors and technical experts as well as professional institutes, assessors of the accreditation body, etc.

Technical committees serve as a platform for discussing current issues in the field of accreditation and searching for their possible solutions.

The National Accreditation System of the Republic of Belarus has created 7 technical accreditation committees. The tasks, functions, composition, rights, responsibilities, as well as the work procedure of technical accreditation committees are defined in Provision P SM 5.8.
